- Pat the tuna steaks dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.
- Lightly brush both sides of the tuna steak with olive oil.
- In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon black pepper.
- Brush or rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the tuna steaks. For added flavor, sprinkle sesame seeds on both sides if desired.
- Optional Step: Let the tuna steaks marinate for 10–15 minutes to allow the flavors to soak in.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
- Place the seasoned tuna steaks in the air fryer basket, ensuring they’re not overcrowded and leave space for proper air circulation.
- Air fry the tuna steaks for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Adjust cooking times for preferred doneness: Rare (2–3 minutes per side), Medium-Rare (3–4 minutes per side), Medium (4–5 minutes per side).
- Carefully flip the steaks halfway through cooking to ensure even browning.
- Remove the tuna steaks from the air fryer and let them rest for 2–3 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the steaks and garnish with chopped parsley or sesame seeds for extra flavor.

Use a meat thermometer to monitor internal temperature for preferred doneness (Medium-rare: 125–130°F / 52–54°C). Avoid overcooking to prevent dry, tough tuna; air fry for 3–4 minutes per side for best results.
Choose steaks at least 1 inch thick for a tender, seared texture. Cooking at high heat for a short time helps seal the outside while keeping the inside tender.
Always rest the tuna for 2–3 minutes after cooking to preserve juices and enhance flavor. Pat tuna steaks dry before seasoning to ensure a good sear.
If marinating, do so for 15–30 minutes, but avoid marinating for too long with acidic marinades as they can break down the fish texture.
Store leftover tuna steak in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 2–3 minutes, or enjoy cold in salads or wraps.
