Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Begin by spreading a layer of sauce on the bottom of your baking dish to prevent noodles from sticking.
- Layer oven-ready noodles, sauce, cheese, and other desired fillings, ensuring each noodle layer is completely covered with a generous amount of sauce to hydrate evenly.
- If your sauce is particularly thick, pour ½ to 1 cup of water or broth around the edges of the dish for additional moisture.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil (optionally, spray the underside of the foil with cooking spray or place parchment paper over the lasagna first to prevent cheese from sticking).
- Bake the covered lasagna for 25–30 minutes (for standard size) or 30–35 minutes (for thicker/multi-layer lasagna).
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly browned and the noodles are tender when pierced with a knife or fork.
- Allow the lasagna to rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving to help the layers set.
Notes
Ensure generous moisture by using plenty of sauce and adding water/broth if needed. Always cover with foil during initial baking to trap steam. Avoid overbaking; check for doneness after the recommended time. Use creamy fillings and sauté vegetables to prevent dryness. A 9x13-inch dish is ideal. Let lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes post-baking for cleaner slices. Do not pre-boil oven-ready noodles.
